Can I dispose of your litter in the toilet or in the organic waste bin?Updated 8 days ago
Our pea husk litter can be disposed of in the toilet in small amounts and with an appropriate amount of water, suitable for your drainage system – provided this is permitted by local authorities.
Please read the following section carefully before flushing litter down the toilet.
We recommend disposing of cat feces in household waste and strongly advise against flushing it or sending it through the sewage system, as it may pollute water sources.
How to safely dispose of cat litter in the toilet:
Check local regulations to ensure flushing cat litter is allowed.
Remove feces and large clumps with a scoop and dispose of them in household waste. This prevents pipe blockages.
Only flush clumps no larger than a walnut.
Let the clumps sit in water for a few seconds before flushing.
Only flush small amounts of litter. Larger quantities should also go in household waste.
Disposal in the organic waste bin (biotonne):
Disposing of pea fiber-based cat litter in the organic waste bin is not uniformly regulated in Germany and varies by municipality. While plant-based litter is generally biodegradable, not all municipalities allow it in the biotonne due to possible contamination from animal waste.
Some communities allow disposal of plant-based litter in the biotonne, while others prohibit it for hygiene reasons.
Therefore, it's best to check with your local waste management provider or authority to find out whether disposing of pea fiber litter in the biotonne is permitted in your area. If not allowed, the litter should be disposed of in the general waste bin.
